Obituary

PEABODY – Mr. Brendan Teahan 85, of Peabody beloved husband of the late Mary Margaret (McNulty) Teahan, died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Salem Hospital.

Brendan was born October 9, 1932 in Kilcummin, Co. Kerry, Ireland, the son of the late Patrick and Mary (O'Keefe) Teahan. He was raised and educated in Kilcummin Parish and immigrated to the United States in 1958. He was a resident of Cambridge and Somerville, prior to moving to Peabody at the time of his marriage in 1969.

Brendan was a huge sports fan, especially his native Gaelic Football, Track and Field and Basketball, especially his beloved Boston Celtics. He was an avid gardener, having a huge garden for many years and passers by would stop and always marvel at his luscious plantings. Music was of special importance to Brendan, especially Irish music. He loved to take in live Irish music in the Boston area and was a big fan of the Irish music at O'Neil's Pub in Salem.

Mr. Teahan had been employed for many years in the Construction Laborers Union in Boston. He also had been employed in the facilities Department of Salem State College for 21 years and spent 35 years as a member of the staff at Heartland/Stop and Shop Super market Chain in the Salem Swampscott and Peabody Stores until the time of his retirement.

Brendan is survived by his daughter Marybeth Teahan of Peabody, his sons, Brendan Teahan of Peabody and John Teahan of Salem, his brother Michael Teahan of Norwood and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends both in Ireland and the United States. He was the brother of the late Nancy Kenny and John and Patrick Joseph Teahan.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Wednesday, Oct. 10th at 10 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Chestnut St., Peabody at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Tuesday, Oct. 9th from 4 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Brendan's memory to Irish Cultural Center, 200 new Boston Dr., Canton, MA 02021.
