Obituary

MIDDLETON – Miss Carolyn Woodward 96, of Middleton, died peacefully Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Masconomet Nursing Home in Topsfield.

Born in Wellesley, she was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Bertha F. (Flint) Woodward. As a young girl Carolyn and her family moved to the Flint Homestead in Middleton and lived in the Town of Middleton for the next 85 years. She is a direct descendant of the donor of the Flint Public Library in Middleton. She was raised and educated in Middleton and was a graduate of the former Holten High School in Danvers, Class of 1940.

Miss Woodward had been employed with the Bostik Company for over 42 years until the time of her retirement.

Active in social and civic circles, Carolyn was a long time dedicated member of the Middleton Congregational Church where she also taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Middleton Historical Society, the Middleton Senior Center and volunteered at the Former Hunt Hospital in Danvers. Later in life she became blind but did not that stop her from contributing to society and helping others. She formed and ran a support group for the blind at the Peabody Senior Center for many years, helping make the lives better of those who are blind. She was devoted to helping others. She was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Carolyn is survived by her nephews Peter Madden and his wife Nancy of Middleton, Richard Woodward and his wife Carolyn of Andover, Maine, her great nieces and great nephews, Peter A. Madden and his wife Donna of Middleton, Patti Madden of Middleton, Susan Arslanian of Newburyport, Meredith Gates and her husband Barry of Beverly and Douglas Woodward of Danvers, her great, great nephews, Andrew and Benjamin Besse, Maxwell DeBoalt and Patrick Gates, her great, great nieces, Libby and Allyson DeBoalt and Gina and Michelle Macera. She was pre-deceased by her brother Russel Woodward, her sister Barbara Madden and Nephews Robert Woodward and David Madden.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Thursday, Jan. 11th at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Flint Family Burial Grounds, Middleton. Visiting hours Thursday, prior to the service from 9:30 until 11 A.M.
