Obituary

DANVERS – Mr. Robert Meddy Martin, 84, one of twins, was born in Salem on August 3 1933 and entered eternal rest on June 6, 2018. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and was a decorated United States Army war veteran.

Bob married the late Kathleen Helen Marr on September 19, 1959 and is survived by his three children: Lisa Martin of Nashua NH, Steven Martin of Topsfield, and Jeffery Martin of Danvers. He was quite proud of his family, including his six granddaughters, Cara, Caitlin, Sarah, Anna, Madeline and Olivia. Additionally, Bob has been blessed to have his two beloved sisters, Joan Greener and Linda Austin close by in the North Shore area during his entire life.

After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, he worked for 35 years with Raytheon Corporation in Andover and Tewksbury until the time of his retirment. His proudest professional accomplishment was the design of the manufacturing process for the Patriot Missile that is still in use today.

Bob was a passionate golfer, a singer with the Beverly Men's Singing Club, a committed churchgoer, and an enthusiastic dancer, and was actively involved in the Danvers, Beverly, and Peabody Senior Centers.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Friday, June 8th at 10:30 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Locust Grove Cemetery, Rockport. Visiting hours prior to the funeral from 9 to 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Robert's memory to the Danvers Senior Center, 25 Stone St., Danvers, MA 01923.
