Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Buster by adding your memories and photos.

SALEM – Mr. Richard Arthur "Buster" Viselli passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Carol (Grocki) Viselli with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

A lifelong resident of the City of Salem, Buster was the son of the late Guido and Alice (St. Pierre) Viselli. He was raised and educated in Salem and attended Salem public schools and graduated from Salem High School, class of 1954.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Mr. Viselli had been employed for many years as a C.D.L. truck driver until the time of his retirement.

Buster had a great love of sports, especially local softball. After coaching the Maple Leafs in the fast-pitch league, he transitioned to a 50-year career as an A.S.A. Umpire for both men's slow pitch and girls' high school softball. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He always took time to help those in need and will be remembered for his kind nature, his devotion to his loving wife and family and his magnetic smile. He will be deeply missed.

Buster is survived by his children Alice M. Walsh and her husband Peter of Groveland, James R. Viselli and his partner Susan Fusegni of Salem, Richard A. Viselli, Jr and his wife Debra of Beverly, and his daughter Amy S. Viselli of Salem, his two grandchildren Colleen Walsh of Brighton and Maxwell Walsh of Groveland, his brother-in-law James Grocki and sister-in-law Frances Viselli and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Buster was predeceased by his brothers Donald and Robert Viselli.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Friday, March 9th at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Thursday, March 8th from 4 to 7 P.M. Condolence & Memory Journal

Our condolences to Buster's family. Buster got me into Salem Youth hockey and thanks to him I'm still playing hockey today. Years after youth hockey I would run into Buster at the Willows while umpiring or around Salem. It was always great to see this Salem icon. I wish his family the best and special hello to Richie whom I haven't seen in years. I'm sorry I missed the services and the lateness of this message. I've had his Salem News Obituary cut out on my work desk since March 4. Rest in peace Buster. Tom Zargaj and the Zargaj family.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to Viselli family. Mr. Viselli was my coach and we worked at Goldsmiths together. He always had a smile and he was one of the hardest working guys I've ever worked with. May he Rest In Peace. Barry Zoll

My condolences to the whole Viselli family.
I can honestly say Buster was a wonderful Neighbor and friend.
Always asking me about Olivia and Teddy. I remember I had to go in front of the Salem inspection board. There was Buster front row. Stood up and only said wonderful things about his neighbor (me). Buster will be missed by many. My prayers and thoughts are with him always. RIP Dear friend Linda❤
