Lewis and I both were English as a Second Language Teachers at Northern Essex Community College. Lewis taught in the evening program and I taught during the day.
We met on occasion for special events for both day and evening teachers. I didn't know Lewis well, but I did know that he was highly respected and well-liked and was one of the pillars of the evening ESL program through the years. I experienced him as a kind and thoughtful man who loved his work. We ESL teachers at Northern Essex have a sense of community with each other and he will be missed.
