SALEM – Ms. Leather S. (Jones) Dupris, 66 of Salem passed away on March 18, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital with her daughter by her side.

Born in Ashland, Oregon, she was the daughter of Marvin Jones and Donna (Lucier) Hiatt. Raised and educated on the West Coast, Leather graduated high school and attended college in Idaho receiving her Bachelor's degree.

For many years, Leather worked as both a Midwife and a Laboratory Technician at New England Medical Center in Boston until the time of her retirement.

A woman of many skills, Leather enjoyed spending her time creating many different crafts. She was an artist and seamstress who had an eye for exquisite details. Leather was Pagan and honored the Goddess. In her free time, she loved to read all different types of books and had a large collection of them; she also enjoyed watching movies with her daughter. Leather had a huge love of nature and loved to take her children on nature hikes as kids. She had an extensive knowledge of herbs and plants and carried on that love of nature and biology to her daughter Rio. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

Leather is survived by her daughter, Rio G. Dupris, her sons, Robert, Ryan and Randy Grout, her grandson, Ricky Dupris, her sisters, Becky, Carrie and Penny, her brother, Leslie and her beloved cats, Spooky, Angus, Lilly and Mama Cat. She was the mother of the late Ricky Grout.
