SALEM – Mr. James L. Harris 76, of Salem, beloved husband of the late Louise (Ovens) Harris, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Salem Hospital.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Harvey) Harris. He was raised and educated in Rockport and was a graduate of Rockport High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Airforce during the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, he earned his college degree on the G.I. Bill.

Mr. Harris had been employed as a supervisor with Northeast Family institute and Center Point for many years. He had also been associated with the former Danvers State Hospital as a Supervisor.

A loving husband and father, James was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 18 in Salem. He was an avid Fisherman, who was a passionate Boston Red Sox fan, rarely missing a game on TV. Above all else he was devoted to his family and loved his grandchildren, he will be deeply missed.

James is survived by his daughters, Wendy Harris-Boulay and her husband William and her significant other Kenneth Ralphs all of Salem and Christine Harris and her significant other Matthew Mackey of Salem and his 7 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late David Richard Harris.
