DANVERS - Mr. John J. McInnis, 81, of Danvers, formerly of Topsfield, beloved husband of the late Paula (Jones) McInnis, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Danvers he was the son of the late John H. and Catherine A. (Shea) McInnis. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of St. John's Preparatory School. John continued his education attending Northeastern University.

John, together with his dad was John H. McInnis and Son Construction. They built many homes around the North Shore, where they were recognized for their strong work ethic, talent for building quality homes and were proud to be known for their honesty and stellar reputation.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, family was paramount, being a loving, supportive dad and grandfather was just a part of who he was. He was kind and unselfish and thought of others first. He took great pride in his vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed sharing his harvest. A chef at heart, John had a passion for cooking and quickly became the family's favorite cook. He was quiet and unassuming but was always ready to lend a hand. To know him was to love him; he will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

John is survived by his daughter, Shannon Dall and her husband Kevin of Wilmington, his son, Glen McInnis and his partner Meredith McDonough of Danvers and her daughter Kassidy, and his grandchildren, Kyle Hopkins of Danvers and Matthew Dall And Teagan Dall both of Wilmington. He was also the father of the late Heather Hopkins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Celebration of Life which will be held in The Coolidge Hall of the Topsfield Fairgrounds, 207 Boston St., Topsfield on Sunday, May 19th from 1 to 4 P.M. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in John's memory to Danvers People to People Food Pantry, 12 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, C/O Care Dimension, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Our deepest sympathy on your loss. Jack was a wonderful, kind soul.I always looked forward to seeing him in the yard or garden, crossing Collins Street and sharing stories and memories of our families. We will miss him.
