Message From The Family

SALEM – Sandra A. (Shaffaval) Lee, 71 passed away peaceable on Saturday June 8, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Sandy was born in Peabody May 19, 1948 and was a lifelong resident of Salem. Following graduation from Salem High in 1966, she became a stay at home mother to raise her two children Scott and Shannon. After raising her two children, she worked for many years at Appleseeds distribution center in Beverly, before her retirement. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, especially old Elvis songs and watching the Patriots, even when they weren't so good.

Sandra is survived by her son, Scott Lee and his wife Pauline (Kane) of Peabody; her daughter, Shannon Kehoe (Lee) and her husband Michael Kehoe of Salem; her grandson, Jonathan Kehoe, her granddaughter, Stephanie Kehoe; her brother, James Shaffaval of Danvers and several nieces and nephews. Sandy was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lee of Peabody; her brother, Joseph Shaffaval and his wife Irene (Francis) of Salem and her sister, Carol Paparella (Shaffaval) of Salem.

Her children would like to send special thanks to the many caregivers that Sandy met during her treatments at Mass General Cancer Treatment in Danvers and her recoveries at the Grosvenor Park Health Center in Salem. Our mother could be a less than "cooperative" patient sometimes but in the end, she did appreciate your help and kindness and we've heard, had a way of bringing a smile to your face with a witty remark or two.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Saturday, June 15th from 3 to 6 P.M. Followed by her funeral service at 6:15 P.M. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, Expressions of sympathy may be made in Sandra's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit
