SOUTH HAMILTON – Mrs. Gladys E. (Fanning) Rydstrom 85, of South Hamilton, died peacefully, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at her home.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Olga (Young) Fanning. She was educated at St. Ann's High School in Arlington and continued her education at Northeastern University, Salem State College, Boston University and Harvard University. She was a life long learner.

Mrs. Rydstrom had been employed as a professional Educator and Teacher. She began her teaching career at the Horace Mann School in Salem and was associated with the Witch Craft Heights School and the Bowditch Elementary School, both of Salem. She also taught at Gloucester High School. Mrs. Rydstrom had worked at the General Electric Company in the Analytical Engineering Department as an Office Manager

A long-time resident of the Town of Hamilton and the City of Peabody, Gladys enjoyed the out of doors and spent her time horseback riding and gardening. She loved to read and was a member of the Ipswich Poetry Society and the Peabody Garden Club. She was the long-time companion, friend and fiancé of the late Dr. Eugene Zack.

Gladys is survived by her son, Christopher Rydstrom of South Hamilton and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Carl J. Rydstrom and sister of the late Cathy Haskell.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Wednesday, July 10th at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, July 9th from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Gladys memory to Bethany House of Prayer, 181 Appleton St., Arlington, MA 02476.
