AMESBURY- Mr. James J. Sowinski, 64, of Amesbury, formerly of Danvers, passed Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Alexander and Laura (Czywil) Sowinski. He was raised and educated in Danvers; James attended St. Joseph School in Peabody and graduated from Danvers High School.

Jim will be remembered for his kind and caring nature as a son, brother and uncle. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was devoted to his mother for whom he cared during her illness. He was there to support her and care for her when she needed him the most. His greatest joy was found with family, always with a smile on his face. Jim was happiest when partaking in family traditions during the holidays, and attending family gatherings. He was an avid reader, who enjoyed history. He was a staunch Boston sports fan and enjoyed watching the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox and Bruins. He will be remembered for his love of family, his kind and gentle nature and will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.

James is survived by his sister, Valerie Wood of Wakefield, and his brother, Thomas Sowinski and his wife Marilyn of Stratham, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Allen Wood.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in St. John Paul II Divine Mercy Shrine Chapel, 30 St. Peter St., Salem on Friday February 7th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited.
