Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Melvina (Blanchette) Plante. Raised and educated in Danvers, she was a graduate of the former Holten High School, where she was a cheerleader

A loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; Joan's greatest joy was her family and she took great pride in providing a warm and loving home. Before her marriage, she worked for Ideal Baby Shoe in Danvers.

A longtime resident of Beverly, Joan and her husband Leo travelled the world with their family, due to Leo's active military service. They lived twice in Germany and travelled the United States from sea to shining sea. Joan loved to knit and could be found making sweaters and mittens. She was an avid sports fan, loved music and to dance. She would spend hours with her family relaxing on the beach and loved to play cards. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
