BRENTWOOD, N.H. – Mrs. Barbara (Tighe) Demsey, 77, of Brentwood, N.H., formerly of Danvers, beloved wife of the late C. Wayne Demsey Jr., died Thursday, June 27, 2019 following a brief illness.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret M. (Buckley) Tighe. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of St. John's High School Class of 1959. She continued her education at Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, earning her degree.

Mrs. Demsey had been employed for many years as an office manager and administrative professional. She worked for the General Electric Company and most recently for the Commonwealth Corporation in Boston. She retired in the early 2000's

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Barbara was deeply devoted to her family, her friends and her community. She volunteered her time as an educator of English as a second language. She was an avid traveler and made many friends through her life. She was a member of the First Church of Danvers, Congregational for many years and was an avid reader and loved to garden. She had a passion for music and theatre and enjoyed seeing her beloved husband perform. Often asked what instrument she played, her smiling response would be, "I play the radio." She was an expert baker and cook, and could always be counted on to appear with delicious treats or a hearty meal for family and friends. Her memory will be eternal and she will be deeply missed.

Barbara is survived by her son, James Demsey and his wife Corinne of Salem, her daughter, Suzanne Weeks and her husband Frank of Brentwood, N.H., her grandchildren, Mary Olivia, Andrew Wayne and Rory Elizabeth and many nieces, nephews and dear cousins all of whom she adored. She was the sister of the late Philip Tighe.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the First Church of Danvers, Congregational, 41 Centre St., Danvers, Tuesday, July 2nd at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in North Beverly Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Monday, July 1st from 4 to 7 P.M.
