Obituary

MIDDLETON – Mr. Bernard M. Sweeney Jr., 76 of Middleton, beloved husband of Tynne (Rubchinuk) Sweeney, died Monday, January 8, 2017 at Beverly Hospital.

Born in Leominster, he was the son of the late Bernard M. Sr. and Mary (Esilionis) Sweeney. He was raised and educated in South Hadley and was a graduate of South Hadley High School. Following his service to his country, Bernard continued his education earning his degree from the Culinary Institute of American in new Haven, Ct.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

A talented and trained professional Chef, Bernie worked in many restaurants and Country club kitchens in Massachusetts and Florida. More recently he had been employed with the General Electric Company as a Union Painter at the River Work's plant in Lynn until the time of his retirement in 2007.

A long-time resident of the Town of Middleton, Bernard had a true passion for Golf and sports. He enjoyed spending his time on the links, fishing feeding the birds and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was a long-time member of the American Legion post 227 in Middleton. His true passion was his family. He was a devoted father and husband and loved spending time with his boys golfing and fishing and at home with his beloved wife. He will be deeply missed.

Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Tynne (Rubchinuk) Sweeney of Middleton, his sons, Stephen Sweeney of Peabody and Patrick Sweeney of Middleton and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also the brother of the late Patricia and James Sweeney.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Monday, January 15th at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Bernard's memory to the Feline Rescue 63 Elm St., Salisbury, MA 01952.
