Obituary

SALEM – Mr. Marshall S. Gayton of Salem, beloved husband of Anna (Kelly) Gayton, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by family. He was 69 years old.

Marshall, a Vietnam-era Navy veteran, was originally from Galveston, Texas, but relocated to Salem in 1996. He most recently worked for Allied Universal as a security guard at Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers, until his retirement in 2010.

Marshall enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife of nearly 20 years, Annie, cooking, entertaining friends and family, rooting for the Red Sox and watching his grandchildren take part in various school and sporting events.

In addition to his loving wife, Marshall is survived by his son Joseph Lassiter and his wife Colleen of Seabrook, NH; his daughters Deborah Leblanc of Amesbury, MA; Kelly Famolare and her husband Edward of Peabody, MA; Nancy Mitchell and her husband John of Salem, MA; Maryann Occhipinti of Salem, MA; and Laurie Nagle and her husband David of New Windsor, NY, his 18 grandchildren, his 17 great-grandchildren, his sisters Donna Wheeler of Texas City, Texas and Stephanie Tumlinson of Alvin, Texas, his brother, Tommy Gayton of Texas City, Texas, his sister-in-law, Patricia Popp of Peabody, MA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Sandra Woodruff.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday, Jan. 10th at 7 P.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial is private. Visiting hours Wednesday Jan. 10th prior to the service from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Marshall may be made to the American Heart Association at www.donatenow.heart.org, or the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org/donation.
