DANVERS- Mr. Alan G. (Kjell) Young, 71, of Danvers, beloved husband of Dorothy (Mathews) Young died Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Beverly Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Melrose, he was the son of the late Gustav and Ellen (Cherness) Kjell. Raised and educated in Melrose he graduated from Melrose High School and continued his education at Boston College.

As a young man, Alan was well known for his proficiency as a linotype operator for Wolfe Composition in Reading, Massachusetts. After a number of years with Wolfe Composition, he moved to Colorado to work for the Denver Post Newspaper. In 1987, Alan returned to Massachusetts and went to work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Upon his retirement, he went to work with the VNA.

Alan was a member of the Polish Russian Lithuanian American Citizens Cub of Danvers.

In addition to his loving wife Dorothy of 45 years, he is survived by his son, Nathan Young of Danvers, his step-daughter, Deborah and her husband John "Rik" Rolski and son, Lucien Ian Rolski of New Salem, MA. Mr. Young is also survived by his sister, Karen, her husband Dr. Michael Rothman of Lower Newton Falls, MA and their two adult children; also his brother, Keith L. Kjell of Denver, CO.
