DANVERS- Mrs. Beverly J. (Smith) Hills 77, of Danvers, beloved wife of 59 years to the late Vaughn L. Hills who passed away in July of this year, died Thursday November 3, 2016 at Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly.

Born in in Topsfield, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Dorothy P. (Andrews) Smith. She was raised and educated in Topsfield and attended Essex Agricultural School in Danvers.

As a young woman, Mrs. Hills had been employed with the former Heritage House Nursing Home in Danvers and the former Ann and Hope Department Store in Danvers.

A loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Beverly was truly devoted to her family. She provided a loving, caring and warm home for her family over the years and was always willing to help those in need.

A longtime resident of the Town of Danvers, Mrs. Hills was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAV) of Danvers, Saugus and Peabody. She was the former Post Commander, the Chaplin and held all of the chairs in the organization. She enjoyed her time volunteering with the DAV and attended many of the local and national conventions. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary of Danvers for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time at her family's camp in Kingston, N.H... Later in life she spent many summers camping alongside her beloved husband. Above all else family was always first in her life.

Beverly is survived by her sons, Vaughn Basil Hills and his wife Susan of Exeter, N.H., James R. Hills of Danvers, David W. Hills of Tuckerton, N.J., Steven P. Hills of Danvers and Thomas D. Hills of Danvers, her 8 grandchildren, her 4 great grandchildren, her sister Audrey Smith and Lorraine Flynn and her husband David "Butch" of Topsfield, her brother Milton Smith of Maine and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gordon Smith.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Saturday, Nov. 12th, at 12 noon. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours prior to the service from 10 to 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Beverly's memory to the American Legion A.
