LYNN- Fredrick A. Mungan passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2016. Young at heart at age 91. Maintaining his sense of humor right to the end.

Papa, as he was known to his family, was born in Lynn, he was the son of late George F. and Ruth C. (Symmes) Mungan. Fred graduated from Lynn Tech High School and then continued his education at Franklin College of Boston.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Navy from February 24, 1943 through February 8, 1946 receiving the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with 1 star, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

He retired from Max Sontz as a Sheet Metal Mechanic after 40 years in 1988. He was a dedicated and faithful worker and was always trusted for his attention to detail. He was also a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 291 of Lynn.

Papa was a jack of all trades and great with his hands. He could fix or build anything. He enjoyed spending his time traveling, bowling and completing all types of puzzles and model ships. Yet above all else family was paramount in his life. He spent many hours cheering on his grandchildren with a camcorder in hand capturing all of their events and accomplishments. He was an outstanding well respected man, who will be deeply missed.
