Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Hagerman, passed at the Kaplan Family Hospice House , Danvers on December, 29, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (Hammer) Hagerman with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in June 2016.

Born in California, Jerry was raised in Michigan. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned a Master's Degree from Michigan State University.

During his 33 plus years, with Osram Sylvania, he worked in Sales, Sales Operations and Sales Management. In May 2008 he was presented an NAED Associate Service Award for his outstanding and dedicated service to the Association and the Electrical Distribution Industry. In addition, Jerry was a member of IAABO for 30 years and immensely enjoyed the kids he refereed in high school and developmental basketball leagues.

In the words of the Notre Dame fight song, "what thou the odds be great or small." Jerry overcame many obstacles in his fight with stomach cancer, always proving the doctors wrong and traveled to Venice, Italy in the spring of 2015. He was always willing to help researchers learn more about the disease in order to help future cancer patients.

His three children, Jerilynn Coulter, Jonathan Hagerman and Jennifer Peterson and his seven grandchildren, Kristen Coulter, Angela, Rose, Michael and Darrell Hagerman and Haleigh and Taylor Peterson were the pride and joy of his life and they all adored him. In addition he leaves behind many, many, relatives and friends who loved him and thought he was the greatest. In his last days, many were able to call or visit with him.

Arrangements: In accordance with his wishes, there will be no wake locally. In the spring, there will be a Mass for Jerry at his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, and his remains will be interred on campus where he will never miss a home football game. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Jerry's memory for stomach cancer research to Dr. James Cleary, his oncologist who took the best care of Jerry and was truly a friend. Checks may be sent to: Dr. James Cleary, Oncologist, C/O Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 7th FL, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215-5450. Prayers may be offered on Jerry's behalf to St. Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer, as Jerry prayed to him each day. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson O'Donnell funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit
