DANVERS – Mr. James Peter Morahan, 61, died Sunday, Nov. 27th, 2016, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of Joan V. (Matthews) and Frederick A. Morahan. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, class of 1973.

With an outstanding wit and ever present smile, Peter worked for many years in the restaurant industry. Later, he was associated with his family's travel agency, Travel Centre, which he helped grow into a thriving, successful business. His success continued in various sales positions where he excelled as an innovative and productive thinker.

A longtime resident of the Town of Danvers, Peter was an avid outdoorsman. He loved travelling with his beloved wife, Chris, his best friend, at his side. Together they enjoyed spending time at their home in Thornton, NH, where they spent many years exploring the great outdoors; from hiking and biking, to skiing, snowshoeing and kayaking.

Peter will also be remembered for his passion for music, especially The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Mose Allison. A creative thinker, Peter loved constructing new inventions with the purpose of helping to make life easier for those he loved.

Peter's kind spirit, his devotion to his family and friends, his sense of humor, and his love of nature, is what made him a truly unique husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Christine Wise Morahan of Danvers, his parents, Fred and Joan Morahan of Danvers, his siblings, Ginger Cross and her husband Ralph of Florida, Linda McCarthy of Beverly, Maureen Sabino and her husband Randy of Topsfield, Bill Morahan and his wife Carole of South Carolina, and Joan Lothrop and her husband Donald, also of South Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
