SALEM- Mr. Joseph C. Chouinard Jr., 82, of Salem, beloved husband of the late Shirley A. (Provost) Chouinard, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family.

Born in Lynn and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Sr., and Blanche (Provost) Chouinard.

An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Chouinard, proudly serviced his country as a member of the United States Navy.

Mr. Chouinard had been employed in the Leather Industry, as a machine operator, for the AC Lawrence Leather Company, for over 21 years and later for New England Carbide Tool for several years, prior to his retirement.

Joseph was a loving father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his youngest grandson Michael and being a part of his life. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed meeting his friends at St. John the Baptist Bingo, on Friday nights, where he played for several years. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends

Joseph is survived by his children, James Chouinard of Peabody and Janet Chouinard of Salem, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brother, Ralph Chouinard and his wife Carole of Georgetown, his sisters, Irene Willametz of Berlin, CT and Sandra Shastop of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Private funeral services were held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
