MIDDLETON- Mrs. Julia Mae (Hatt) Fox, 92, a Middleton resident since 1959, has gone to fly the sky ways with her husband the late Lt. Col. Robert William Fox, USAF on January 1, 2017. Julia, known by her friends and family as Judy, died at their home in Middleton, peacefully with her daughter Judi Lynne Davis and granddaughter Heidi Isidro by her side.

Born October 22, 1924 in Portland, Maine; she was the oldest child of six, of the late Vern and Inez (Douglas) Hatt. The family moved to Staffordville, Ct in 1925 where she attended Staffordville schools and Stafford Springs High, before meeting her husband Robert W. Fox, formerly of West Springfield, MA.

They were joined in marriage in 1946 and moved to Germany following WWII where her husband was stationed with the Air Force. He was a decorated Pilot who served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Together they had four children. The Fox's lived for several years in Westfield, MA; before moving to Middleton, MA in 1959.

During Lt. Col. Fox's absences, Julia maintained the household and nurtured their family while being active in various school activities and town clubs. Judy was an active member of the Middleton Historical Society, donating many beautiful decorations and crafts to various events in town. Judy was also an avid seamstress, sewing for friends, neighbors, children and grandchildren throughout the years. She was also known for her prize winning braided rugs which fill her home to this day. Julia and her husband traveled the world while he was in the service and following his retirement from the Airlines. Julia and Bill in later years maintained a winter residence in Port Richey, Florida.

Julia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith L. and Michael Davis of Middleton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Caryl Fox of Beverly, Lawrence and Anne Munroe Fox of Westfield, and Terence and Lynn Fox of Avon, CO, two sisters, Edith Vail of Stafford Springs, Ct, and Beverly Christensen of Vernon, CT, a brother, Charles Hatt of East Brookfield, eight grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Elsie Stewart formerly of Stafford Springs, CT and Marjorie Anderson of Millbury.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson O'Donnell Funeral, 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers, Thursday January 5, 2016 at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Julia's memory to All Care Hospice, 210 Market St., Lynn, MA 01901.
