SALEM- Mr. Lucien Philip Chalifour, 81, of Salem, beloved husband of Noreen Elizabeth Rooney, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Albert and Yvonne (Frechette) Chalifour. Raised and educated in Salem he was a graduate of Salem High School and spoke English and French fluently.

An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Chalifour proudly served his country as a member of the United States Naval Reserve.

Lucien was well known throughout the North Shore as the proprietor of Chalifour Fabrics and Wall Coverings. He was highly regarded for his craftsmanship in his field.

He was devoted to and loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife Noreen. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and restoring antiques, but most of all, he will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his kind and gentle spirit.

In addition to his loving wife Noreen, Lucien is survived by his sons, Daniel Chalifour and his wife Gail of Dover, NH, Ronald Chalifour of Newbury, Randal Chalifour and his wife Cynthia of Peabody, Lucien Chalifour Jr. and his wife Christina of Salem, NH, his daughter, Dianne Chalifour and her husband Ronald Burson of Dover, NH, his step-children, Devin Dworkin and his wife Jodi Greenleaf of Malden, Briana Dworkin-Lubs and her husband Matthew Lubs of Hamilton and Arielle Dworkin and her partner Gregory Mooney of Brighton, his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Rena Little of Cape Neddick, ME and Marie Cahill and her husband James of Matlacha, FL and many loving nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Laurence Chalifour.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem on Thursday, August 18th from 3 to 7 P.M.. Services and burial are private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Lucien's memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, C/O Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
