DANVERS- Mrs. Madeline (Lubas) Courtney 98, of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Louis Courtney, died peacefully Friday evening December 23, 2016 at her home.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Lubas) Lubas. She was raised and educated in Salem.

Mrs. Courtney began her professional career as a laborer at the Pequot Mills in Salem. Later she had been employed as a waitress in the Restaurant and Food services industry for many years until the time of her retirement.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother Madeline was devoted to her family. A woman with great spirit and personality, she loved to ballroom dance and was a long-time member of the Franco-American Club and the St. Joseph Club. Her greatest memories and fondest times were spent with family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Madeline is survived by her daughters, Pauline Foley of Salem and Patricia Smith of Salem, her nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and 6th generation living, great, great, great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was the former wife of the late George Angelo and William "Paul" Jankowski and sister of the late John and Augustus Lubas and beloved sister-in-law of the late Mary Lubas.

Madeline's family would like to extend great thanks and appreciation for all the care and compassion that she received from all the special girls that cared for her in the last years of her life. It is greatly appreciated.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass which will be held in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem/Peabody Line, Friday, December 30th at 11 A.M.. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. As requested visiting hours omitted. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Madeline's memory to Care Dimension, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
