Middleton- Mrs. Marilyn A. (Evans) Gifford, 80, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on March 17th after a life of exceptional vitality and fitness.
Born in Danvers, on May 17, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Guy and Pearl (Baker) Evans.

Marilyn began her professional career with the State of Massachusetts in the Bureau of Forest Fire and Environmental Management where she also represented "Smokey the Bear" for over 30 years. She retired in 1992 but continued to work part time for the Massachusetts Recreation and Conservation Department at Harold Parker as seasonal labor.

Mrs Gifford spent many years teaching water safety instructor courses in Salem. She was an avid dog lover and truly took delight in all outdoor activities.
Marilyn is survived by her children Donna McLeod and her husband Malcolm, Lloyd Gifford and his wife Mary Jane, Gary Gifford and his wife Robin, Candy Gwess and her husband Titus and her devoted companion Gilbert Bonk of Middleton, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren to whom she was known as "gg", and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dawn Sutherland and Rupert Jenkins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers, Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. A time of reflection and sharing in Marilyn's honor will be held at 7 P.M. during the visitation. Private burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
