SALEM- Mr. Richard Dexter Anderson Jr., 67, of Salem, beloved husband of the late Patricia (DiPaolo) Anderson, died unexpectedly August 31st, 2016 at Salem Hospital.

Born in Heidelberg, Germany, he was the son of the late Richard Sr. and June (Rogers) Anderson. As a young man he traveled extensively as his father was in the military, yet they made Salem their home and he graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1967. He continued his education at American International College earning his bachelor's degree.

Mr. Anderson had been employed as a banker with various financial institutions on North Shore until the time of his retirement.

A longtime resident of the City of Salem, Dex, was a member of the Salem Common Neighborhood Association. He was an avid history buff and enjoyed debating and analyzing current events. Yet he was most passionate about his loving wife and family. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Olivia B. Reddy and her husband Timothy of Salem and Haley E. Anderson of Salem, his sons, R. Dexter Anderson III and Drew T. Anderson both of Philadelphia, PA, his grandchildren, Sophia, Timothy Jr., and Jameson Reddy, his sisters, Lee Bresnahan and her husband Roger of Essex, Deborah Wallace of Hallowell, ME and Amy Grover and her husband Scott, Esq. of Salem, his mother-in-law Ann DiPaolo and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia (DiPaolo) Anderson and his father-in-law Alfred R. DiPaolo.

ARRANGEMENTS: His private funeral services were held in the Tabernacle Congregational Church in Salem. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem.
