SALEM- Mr. Richard P. Griffin 76, of Salem, beloved husband of the late Suzanne G. (Pilon) Griffin, died Monday, April 18th, 2016 at Salem Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Robert and Sarah (Casey) Griffin. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1959. One of Salem High Schools greatest basketball players he lead his team to many state tournament appearances.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Airforce.

Mr. Griffin began his professional career with the former Parker Brothers Games of Salem. He then began a career with New England Telephone as a Technician retiring in 1985.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Richard loved his family dearly. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Witch City Post #1524 of Salem. He found his greatest joy spending time with his grandchildren. He was ultimately proud of all their accomplishments. Rich had a contagious laugh and ever present smile. He will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his daughters Anne-Marie Sharkey and her husband Peter Jr. of Salisbury and Lyn Holt and her husband Kevin of Salem, his grandchildren, Ryan, Cory and Kelly Sharkey, Zachary and Nicholas Holt and Dana Abrahams and Joshua Marciszka and many extended family including his beloved cousin Thomas Gardner. He was the father of the late Michele Marciszka.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Saturday, April 23rd, at 10 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in Ste. Anne's Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial is private. Visiting hours Friday, April 22nd from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Rich's memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 222 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 1500, Chicago, Illinois 60606.
