SALEM- Mr. Robert J. Foley Sr., 81, of Salem, died Wednesday November 25th, 2015 at the Hunt Nursing and Retirement Home in Danvers.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Patrick B. and Mary (Mello) Foley. He was raised and educated in Salem and attended Salem Schools.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Foley was a dedicated and faithful employee of the City of Salem. He was associated with the Department of Public Works, the Water Departments and the Parks Department.

Bobby was a lifelong resident of the City of Salem; he enjoyed a good card game, was an active and competitive athlete and was known as the "Best Dancer" on the North Shore. Bob played football on Sunday's at the Salem Common and always helped the children on the Salem Common Neighborhood enjoy a nice 4th of July party. He had an outgoing and friendly nature and was always quick with a smile, joke and hello. He will be deeply missed.

Bobby is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Foley of Peabody, Cynthia Dube and her husband Leo J. Sr. of Lebanon, ME and Nancy J. Foley of Salem, his sons, Robert J. Foley Jr. and his wife Pauline of Lynn, Patrick D. Foley and his wife Debra of Salem, Stephen M. Foley of Salem, James D. Foley of Marlboro, Shawn E. Foley and his wife Karen of Amesbury, his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Danielle, Patrick & Ryan Foley, James D. Walker, Leo J. Dube Jr., & Eric Dube, 1 great granddaughter, Alanah Dube, his sister, Frances Cappello of IL, his brother, Bartholomew "Pat" Foley of Marblehead, his nephew Michael Foley of Maine and his former wife Helen Cook Foley of Peabody.
